Nazism: Night and Fog (Nuit et brouillard)

Night and Fog is a french movie that depicts the hardship and disgusting life Nazism brought upon the life of German-Jewish a that Era. They were brutalized with uncomfortable treatments imposed on them. The movie showed how quiet and empty the lot where they killed and mistreated them has gotten now compared to how devilish it was before. 

Night and Fog have interesting educative scenes. Into 4 minutes and 30 seconds into the first part of the movie shows depicted pictures of Jewish being deported from European countries such as Brussels, Rome etc. These were large number of people (group) in an area- Thus chaos in Nihilism. 

The scenes predicts how fake politician are. They could be very hostile to civilians whiles they are submissive to the rules and regulations being set by these same rulers. These victims showed a maximum respect to their rulers by following their plans for them. Reeling these innocent victims into small train coaches, packing hem with no light and or even air to breathe. They then dump them into supposedly a "camp" for them. mean while brutalizing them.

Weber famously defines the ideal type of the state: as the organization that maintains a monopoly on the use of force (macht) over a given territory. All political orders are maintained through the use of force. This is a sobering lesson for people undergoing a revolution and something which those who have been leading the movement are already discovering, both from themselves and from their opponents. Power is wielded over a certain territorial area, the geography of the territory partially determines the character of the state. Otherwise the concentration of power over a certain area gives rise to distinctive nationalities who identify with the state and its particular form of domination. Weber is careful to define the state only in terms of means, not ends. The means the state uses, is force, the end, the goals it pursues is relative to the unique history of each state. The ends of the state today are termed the “national interests” of the state."

Explanation & Reason for choosing the Paragraph:

           In my understanding, he was emphasizing how politicians who governs and rule a country creates laws or constitution that favors them in order to live with no form of limitations for them. Politicians may come up with a system that favors or civilians may want to hear just to gain power but then that is not what they intend to do. I remember when I was a kid in one African nation where there is vast amount of gold and minerals. The government had made a statement that since the economy was poor and most senior citizens have pure gold sitting in their closet's, they should give part to their country in order for the government to create a form of free health insurance and medical prescriptions. This sounded, a great deal but in turn the government announced that the gold on its way to the US has been stolen in Turkey and the Turkey government is investigating the problem. Up until today the senior citizens are living helpless with no form of medical coverage.

            There are situations where government officials formulate or amend the constitution or current laws to favor them to enjoy. Listening to the news, there are fights between civilians and their government officials everyday and its all because of lies and force of rules imposed to the civilians for years. Educated civilians mostly opposes the government when such uncomfortable amendments and forces are opposed onto them.

A brief introduction:

             Germany with its history of governance and unity primarily through the willing and the desire to of creating a the German Constitution "The Reich" . The Reich was written on August 11,1919. The constitution was in written in two parts. The First Part of the constitution is about the composition of the Reich or the government and the Second part is about the right and responsibilities of the government and the German Citizens. My essay will just take emphasis one Article in each of the two sections of the constitution. 

First Section(Art. 1-108):

"Article 79:

Reich defense is a Reich matter. Military service will be regulated uniform, with consideration to regional traditions."

From the first section of the Constitution under the sixth chapter where it emphasizes the responsibilities of the administrative sector, It stated clearly how the Reich is responsible to generate military services to the Germans. 

I choose this Article since in my view it makes sense for a country's military to be controlled and manged by the Government and not the citizens of the country. It may create a lot of chaos if any person (a member of the country) could determine what the military actions are. The lack of leadership and control will yield wars and fights which the Germans indeed didn't need at that moment.

Second Section(Art 109-181):

"Article 126:

Every German is entitled to address the respective authority or parliament with petitions or grievances. This right may be exercised both by the individual or jointly by a group of individuals"

Under the second section which is more about the right of the citizens of Germans. There is always a need for rights of citizens in a country. It helps in building better country. Individuals in a country are treated and organized well treated when ever there are existing rights. They all tend to do and follow what is right. For instance, the right to criticize the government or government official as stated in article 126 of the Reich is a perfect example. Freedom of speech allow one to express his or her inner feelings or opinion on a situation that is happening or will be happening. This yields a peaceful environment for everyone. I chose this article since it is something beneficial that reminds people in power that they cannot abuse any one with their power. They get to be criticized and even in most cases get them out of power.
